 The small, iridescent green dragon listened to her friend's cry from deep down inside the small forest-colored stone. She saw the petite pointed face, huge pine green eyes, and spiked golden hair of Natasha embraced within the stone. Words had not been needed between the two friends since childhood. Their minds had fused together the day Tempest was born. They knew each other’s thoughts and communicated thus, no fuss, no bother, just pure honesty. This was the way it was with Elves born of the Tagnik'zur Clan and dragons.

“Oh, Nat, I don’t know what to do! I wouldn’t know where to begin to look,” Tempest said, wringing her petite paws as a tear of devestation slipped to the ground.

“Tempi, think back to the days of yore. Who told us the most about the Child of Lore? The Wizard, Yaz, he might know more.”

The tiny dragon cocked her head as the words took form in her mind. “What! You want me to go to that crazy old man’s house by myself? You must be kidding! There’s no way I’m going there alone. The last time we were there, he tried to cut off my tail. His eyesight is so bad he mistook me for a lizard. No! That is definitely out of the question! Besides, Nat, we don’t even know if the legend is true. Yaz is crazy. He could have made up the whole thing.”

Oh bonnie lass have you heard the news that’s goin’ round?

St Paddy has driven the snakes from all of Irish ground.

He took his fine shalalee and tapped it on the ground,

Now there’s nar a snake to be seen in all of Ireland.

Oh bonnie lass did you hear the news that’s goin’ round?

I found a four leaf clover growing on a fairy mound.

I stuck it in me hat and danced me all around

Now I will spread my Irish luck to all of Ireland.

Oh bonnie lass have you heard the news that’s goin’ round?

With my lucky clover a Leprechaun I found.

I followed him to his pot of shiny gold so round.

I stole his gold, took it to town and passed it all around.

Oh bonnie lass have you heard the news that’s goin’ round?

I have now been banished from my sweet Ireland.

That fairy gold turned to dust when touched by a man’s hand.

So like the snakes I’ll nar be seen in all of Ireland.

The Banshee's Bargain

      He turned and slowly made his way back to the fire. Her timing was horrible. He wasn’t ready to meet his maker. He had so many things left to do, but most importantly, he needed to get his novel published so he could leave his family debt free. The bank had given him one more week. She wouldn’t.

As he entered the parlor, he was greeted by a beautiful woman dressed to the nines in the latest fashion.  She had already poured herself a brandy from the decanter that always sat on the sidebar. In fact she had made herself right at home. She took a dainty sip of the sweet liquor and sat back in her chair, smiling.

Thomas had heard that the Banshee could take this guise, but he really hadn't believed it was true. Apparently he was wrong. He poured himself a whiskey and sat down in the chair facing hers.

“I’m glad to see someone will get enjoyment from my death,” he said, nonchalantly twirling his drink.
